I've been saying it for a looooong time now - our fair city needs a place that serves late night dessert. It's a huge hole in our local restaurant scene.
Don't you think so? Where do you go after dinner if you want to chat some more and not tank up on booze? Chances are some coffee shop. Nothing wrong with that, of course, but sometimes you want a little sumthin' sumthin' more than cakes and pastries (albeit decent ones) that are sitting in a lit case.
And that is exactly the kind of thinking that the minds behind Wildflour Cafe put into their newest child - Farmacy. Located in the former Da.u.de Tea Lounge (check out Da.u.de over at Solaire and the spinoff Sweeteas over at Mega Fashion Hall), Farmacy sells happy drugs of the frozen variety - ice cream and sorbets in all sorts of flavors, lovingly made in house.
You may be asking why it's called that -- back in the day in the US, the pharmacy was not just a place to get your prescriptions filled out. A lot of these shops also had a soda fountain, where you could stop by for snacks, beverages, and yes - ice cream!
In true Wildflour fashion, practically everything they make here is done in-house, using the best ingredients they can source, and it shows. They even went as far as reducing the sugar in their concoctions, just to balance things out.
If you're jonesing for real American style sundaes, shakes, and malts --- THIS is where to have it. A "Black Forest" sundae, made with a crazy delicious dark chocolate ice cream and booze marinated maraschino cherries will bring you back for sure.. as will their banana split, and my personal favorite upon my first time there: a strawberry ice cream soda.
You can bet whole families will show up here, groups of friends, and yes, dates too - sharing a vanilla malt can be kinda romantic you know (especially if it's late at night - at some point they will close at 2am FYI).
What's a late night joint without booze, you say? Relax, kid - they thought of that too. Craft beers are on hand, and even ice cream with booze ---- like their South Beach: Red Bull sorbet, Calamansi soda, and Hendricks. They can play a little naughty too! And for the teetotalers - they got a La Marzocco to pump out espressos as well.
The vibe is super fun - I totally see myself just hanging out here, digging the tunes on the sound system, and chatting with friends. Yeah baby - this is heaven for the Lolos and Lolas who ain't gonna shake their ass over at Valkyrie just yet. Hehe!
So there you have it. Another feather in the cap for Wildflour, and for all of us in general. The food scene just got a whole lot sweeter. All that's missing is a hotdog.
Congratulations Team Wildflour!
