When in Singapore, do hit up the restaurant called @candlenutsg .. It's young chef, Malcolm Lee (I mean, really - he looks like a baby!) does wonders for Peranakan cuisine --- not gussying it up, but just respecting it and trying to make it better (like this fun dish of Maggi noodles and a sauce of buah keluak - an Indonesian nut). It's beautiful food and it's DELICIOUS.

Along the streets of Singapore, we feast on Chinese style #NasiLemak -- humble food, made with precision by someone only with so much experience can pull off. The proud owner told us that she's been at it for 30 years - and it shows! Most definitely my kind of grub.. #ShiokYulo

NANTA

Tonight had the good fortune of catching #Nanta - the longest running stage show in Korea, combining comedy with traditional Korean percussion called Samulnori. The story, based in a restaurant kitchen, makes it extra fun. Highly recommended for everyone, regardless of age! Do CHECK IT at the #SolaireTheater as soon as you can! I thought it was great, wholesome fun - no wonder the world loves it (including Broadway!) Tickets available at  #Ticketworld

So I finally opened this bottled treasure given to me after lunch at the home of Tita @bellayuchengco - made by her daughter Aimee. Gah! Had a teaspoonful on my morning toast. Oh my! It's yummeh!!! Call +632 8077900 for orders!😜 (PS - I've been told --- this is the best friend of pancakes..😁)

Moseyed on down South again to #BFHomes to spot some new stuff... like this sliver of a joint called #WickedDogs serving -- you guessed it, guy -- all sorts of hotdogs. Sammies are on point indeed! I

From top to bottom, left to right: the wasabi dog (with katsuoboshi, nori and wasabi); the Tijuana bacon dog (bacon wrapped and topped with chili, cheese sauce, sriracha and an egg); the cachorro quente completo (weirdest combo but I LOVED IT! - mashed potato, corn, cheese sauce, potato chips on a Hungarian sausage); and the classic chili cheese dog. One word: GAH!!!!!🌭🌭🌭😍 #WickedDogs

This is the #WickedDogsFive sandwich - and they don't have a name for it yet. It's got wanton chips, scallions and hoisin sauce on top of the frank🌭, and it comes with kropek and sweet chili sauce on the side. I'd call it the Go Chiu It Dog... (or fine, you can call it the Crunchy Dragon 🐉) 😜 Such a fun place! CHECK IT!

International Chef's Day

I inadvertently spent International Chef's Day at a special charity dinner hosted by LTB and prepared by the award winning culinary team of the #MarriottManila. They served us their medal winning dishes, starting with this almond crusted halibut with crab, edamame and corn ragout and a saffron aioli. A winner for sure!
