Back Alley

New sandwich centric joint at #TheGroveByRockwell called #Alley 😁

A beautiful and healthful piece of grilled salmon on cauliflower purée from young gun Thirdy Dolatre

A riff on a Reuben - corned beef belly, Emmenthal, and slaw on house made molasses bread

Drunken fuds from @alleyrestaurant -- soy chicken rice, poached egg and pickled veg ... you'll know what it's for when you eat it!

Cheese pimiento na grilled cheese

Opens for lunch and dinner Feb 1.

Susi

Once again chasing the sexeh bod by taking in food that's good for you. I seriously could eat here all the time at @susiph -- this lentil, beer and mushroom "bacon" salad is amazing!

Mushroom "foie gras" and gluten free bread.

Yummeh! "The Chimichurri" - a beet burger with chimichurri, pico de gallo and "cream cheese". Super satisfying!

A brunch item -- the "Jose Rizal" -- mushroom "chorizo", garbanzo "eggs", spinach and brown rice. Pass the vinegar!

Susi is a Vegan restaurant - but I like it because the owner really insists her food taste good, even for non-vegans.

Take A Bow

Some people have written eulogies.. some, like myself, have sat thinking about how big an impact his passing has unexpectedly had. And then there are some who will play the music (I know I will before I nod off).

Oh man.. there aren't many left like him. Salamat, David Bowie.

Heneral Tso

In the midst of rumors of American Chinese food giant Panda Express coming to our shores, here's something to check out. It's a fascinating eye opener on Americanized Chinese food and why it is why it is -- and an equally compelling search on the origins of General Tso's Chicken. smile emoticon Fun - and now on .. ahem.. Netflix.

Un Cuenca

I'm a fan of Chef Ariel Manuel. He's the kind of cook anyone can love - he just wants to make you good food without any fanfare. With the shutting down of Lolo Dad's (2013), I waited for the next chapter to come around.

Chef Ariel Manuel together with another favorite Chef Sunshine Puey Pengson. Taken during  Madrid Fusion Manila 2015 where they showcased their food for the Visayan Regional lunch.

Here's the first paragraph at Un Cuenca in Alabang. This is gooooood: a mustardy spin on salpicao. 😜

Salpicao

Salpicao

One of my favorites for the evening -- a light and tasty jar of house made sardines, seasoned just right.

Chili

One of the most underrated things in Manila - a cup of chili from Chili's (well if you're gonna name your joint Chili's..) Then there's the nachos. Always yummeh!
